Chancellor Olaf Scholz, in a groundbreaking announcement at the IAA Mobility 2023, unveiled a strategic move by the German government to enact legislation that would require fast chargers at gas stations across the nation.
This game-changing initiative aims to put an end to “range anxiety” and make electric vehicle (EV) charging ubiquitous.
The new mandate is projected to encompass approximately 80% of all gas stations in Germany, totaling around 11,000 facilities.
The government has set an ambitious target to install 1 million public charging points throughout Germany by the end of 2030, with only 10% of that goal achieved as of July 1, according to a survey by the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW).

Additionally, it features built-in advertising space through 75-inch UHD monitors, opening up revenue opportunities for gas station operators.
