Kempower introduces a new generation charger line featuring silicon carbide (SiC) technology for the company’s entire product portfolio.

Kempower will commence deliveries of this new generation of chargers to customers in the first quarter of 2024. The North American markets will follow in the second quarter.

It is worth mentioning that this new line boasts very high performance and further enhances the electric vehicle charging experience.

“With this new charger line, we are releasing Version 2 of Kempower’s Power Module, featuring SiC technology,” comments Jussi Vanhanen, Kempower’s Global Marketing Director.

“Based on the results of initial pilot projects with customers and endurance testing, the new technology provides electricity flow compatible with the grid with very low THD levels, increased efficiency, and a wide operating temperature range,” he adds.

This new line offers the same reliability and design as the company’s previous charger line.

“Thanks to increased efficiency and a power factor of up to 0.98 PF, it is possible to reduce costs of the electrical infrastructure while still providing electric vehicles with the same charging power as with our previous design,” Vanhanen notes.

He continues: “Other benefits include better electrical compatibility with existing installations and, at the same time, increased network resilience against large electric vehicle charger installations.”

Kempower has established a very solid supply chain in Europe and North America for the new generation charger line with silicon carbide technology.

This sustainable supply chain enables the company to significantly increase its production and follows the company’s philosophy of maintaining its supply chain localized near the production plants both in Lahti and North Carolina.
