Global Mobility Call, the leading event on sustainable mobility organised by IFEMA MADRID and Smobhub, has announced the six startups that will present their solutions in the final of the “Mobility to Work Challenge” by Las Rozas Innova and Global Mobility Call.

The companies were selected from a total of 54 national and international proposals and will compete for the Best Idea Award, valued at 5,000 euros, and the Best Startup Award, which will receive 10,000 euros to pilot a project in Las Rozas.

This is the second innovation challenge launched to the entrepreneurial ecosystem, aiming to identify, showcase, reward, and test solutions that help reduce emissions from journeys not only to work centres but also during the working day.

“Through open innovation initiatives like the Mobility to Work Challenge, Las Rozas is identifying scalable technology solutions that can be applied to other cities worldwide, while also giving visibility and support to entrepreneurs to develop their innovative projects, as we firmly believe in the role of technology in meeting people’s needs,” says Las Rozas Innova’s President and Mayor of Las Rozas, José de la Uz.

For Félix Pérez-Fajardo, Commercial Director of Global Mobility Call, “this challenge is an opportunity to explore and discover mobility solutions that not only improve people’s quality of life but also make cities more sustainable, efficient, and connected.”

Selected startups

Three startups and three projects in the idea phase will present their solutions; the startups aim to develop a pilot in the city, while the projects in the idea phase will compete for funding to further develop their solutions.

The finalists in the startup category are:

  • LetmePark: A startup that uses machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) to provide users with strategic parking points, offering a fully automated and personalised solution.
  • Hoop Carpool: This startup optimises vehicle occupancy, allowing users to save time, money, and emissions by connecting people who travel to the same places daily to share rides.
  • Mobilit: A startup implementing “Smart 2 Mobility” plans and technological solutions to support transport administrations, cities, companies, and operators in designing and implementing their Smart Mobility and transport digitalisation strategies.

The finalists in the “idea” category are:

  • IntiMob: An intelligent routing system for solar-powered public transport vehicles, like buses, that optimises routes by considering solar energy capture, traffic conditions, and weather data. The system uses AI and real-time data to provide routes that maximise solar panel efficiency and minimise travel times.
  • Meep: A multimodal mobility app designed to enable employees to move sustainably. It includes a points programme that can be exchanged for various rewards, featuring a map and route application to support sustainable travel.
  • Nasta: A gamified solution that tracks the carbon footprint of each journey via GPS. It allows users to monitor the mode of transport used and understand their daily travel habits.

The winning idea and startup will have the opportunity to join the Las Rozas Innova Hub, the Las Rozas City Council’s technology-based entrepreneurship and startup consolidation space.

They will benefit from all services, training, access to a network of experts, and visibility on social media, with the potential to conduct a pilot project in Las Rozas, depending on the maturity level and suitability of the startup’s solution for the city.

In addition, Global Mobility Call will reward the winners of both categories with a presentation slot at the next edition of GMC to showcase their projects as winners of the previous challenge.

The winner of the “Startup” category will also be offered a stand in the dedicated startup area in 2025.
