Dongfeng Motor Corporation is a Chinese company that has been manufacturing vehicles for over 50 years from Wuhan and is now entering the Spanish market with Voyah Free.

Óscar Villafranca, president of the SRT Automotive Group, speaks with Portal Movilidad España from the Madrid Electric Vehicle Fair (VEM2023) about the arrival of this SUV.

“We have the exclusive distribution rights for Voyah in Spain and also in America, establishing a presence in Argentina and Brazil,” he explains.

Now, the brand sees the perfect moment to enter the country’s market, but they admit that their arrival has been delayed.

What Villafranca comments is that there were still reservations about electric cars and there was no consolidated structure, which has now been achieved.

Another point of the decision is the economic factor, as the Spanish customer does not have the same profile as a British or German one, and that is why the Chinese brand’s arrival was delayed.

The market focus will be on cities like Madrid or Barcelona, where Low Emission Zones have already been implemented (they should exist in all urban centers with more than 50,000 inhabitants).

“The electric car is the number one option now for any user,” explains the president of CRT Automotive.

And he adds: “It really is a car that inspires many sensations, from the concept that it is an electric car without looking like one in terms of aesthetics. It’s a sports car with luxury aspects.”

As for its features, this car has unique characteristics, such as the ADAS driving system, massage seats, and gesture-based system control.

In addition, it has a range of 500 kilometers with a 107 kW/h battery.

Its silhouette is imposing, measuring 4.91 meters in length, 1.95 meters in width, and 1.65 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 2.96 meters.

The interior is spacious and with a high level of finishing, featuring three 12.3-inch screens: instrumentation, infotainment screen, and co-pilot’s auxiliary screen.

Voyah’s Expectations

It accepts fast charging of up to 100 kW, so it will go from 20% to 80% in just over 45 minutes.

Using an 11 kWh home charger will take less than 10 hours, but it will be 12 hours if you want to reach 100% charge.

With this in mind, Villafranca admits: “This is the first contact with the Spanish market, and the product hopes to capture a large share.”

In addition, this was its first presentation at the VEM, which they see as a great novelty and opportunity.

It will seek to attract customers with a price of 85,000 euros for those looking for this high-performance car.

Adding to its features, the Voyah Free is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 200 km/h, with a maximum torque of 720 Nm distributed on the axles (310/410).

This gives it all-wheel drive, a towing capacity of 2,000 kilograms, and six different driving modes: Eco, Comfort, Performance, Snow, Off-road, and Individual.

Additionally, and as a curious detail, it is offered with independent air suspension.
