Founded in Germany in 2016, chargecloud GmbH positions itself as a key player in the eMobility sector with a software solution that integrates charging infrastructure management, billing, and fleet services.
Carolin Nebeling, Teamlead for International Market Development, asserts that the company’s main mission is “to facilitate and automate the ‘refuelling’ process” for operators (CPOs) and electric mobility service providers (EMSPs).
In an interview with Mobility Portal Europe during the Global Mobility Call (GMC), she highlights the importance of building an ecosystem that allows for scaling operations in various markets.
“Our software includes essential tools such as remote infrastructure control, customer relationship management, and compatibility with roaming networks,” she explains.
Additionally, she emphasizes the comprehensive approach that combines fleet services and partner management modules.
Which markets is it present in?
Currently, the company operates in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, and Italy.
However, it is not stopping there.
“Next year, we will place special emphasis on Spain, before exploring the United Kingdom and the Nordic countries,” Nebeling anticipates.
This is why they have chosen to participate in the GMC, to learn more about the Spanish industry, the key players in electric mobility, and connect with them.
“Our goal is to ensure that our product fits perfectly with the needs of the market,” she states.
This strategy responds to the growing demand for charging solutions in countries with supportive eMobility policies.
The representative also underlines that the company adopted a “remote-first” model since the pandemic, hiring staff from various locations.
This enhances their ability to serve international clients, adapting to the particularities of each region.
An ecosystem designed for the future
chargecloud’s offering is not limited to basic infrastructure management.
Its marketplace integrates complementary services such as parking sensors and predictive maintenance, ensuring a more comprehensive solution for operators.
“We want our tools to be a pillar in the growth of companies in the sector,” emphasizes Nebeling.
In this context, the firm focuses on building strong relationships with its clients, understanding that these partnerships are key to success.
A notable example of this philosophy is a collaboration with an energy provider in Berlin, where they successfully integrated commercial transactions into their main system in just six weeks.
“It was a great technical and logistical challenge, but it demonstrates the flexibility of our software,” she comments.
Now, Chargecloud is also beginning to venture into sectors such as heavy transport, catering to the needs of electric buses, boats, and ferries.
This approach expands their impact beyond light vehicles, aligning with the transition towards large-scale sustainable mobility.
In this sense, its main objective remains to ensure that its ecosystem adapts to the ever-changing market needs.
“We believe electric mobility should be accessible to all, and our job is to ensure that this becomes a reality,” she asserts.
More about chargecloud GmbH
With over 170 employees and its headquarters in Cologne, the company has created a solution that enables businesses to scale without borders in the eMobility industry.
“We are a software services company that builds a stable ecosystem to meet all the needs of the sector,” Nebeling details.
Their ecosystem guarantees efficient operations and prepares infrastructure for future challenges, from charging point management to advanced billing services.
Their platform, “unique in the market to date,” is infinitely scalable.
Once the client onboarding process is completed, specialised advice and long-term solutions suited to their needs continue to be provided.
And that’s not all.
Through the B2B portal and the driver app, chargecloud provides white-label solutions that ensure full transparency in the charging infrastructure.
It also offers an exceptional “refuelling” experience for end users.
Currently, over 50 charging infrastructure manufacturers can connect to the ecosystem, and more than 350 customers trust Chargecloud’s software solutions and services.
Additionally, they operate and successfully manage numerous charging points, with over 450,000 eRoaming “refuelling” stations connected.
