TotalEnergies, a multi-energy company, has initiated the “An Electric Car for Alba” campaign as part of its Christmas outreach.
Developed in collaboration with the Red Cross, the goal is to facilitate the social work carried out by volunteers in rural areas in a sustainable manner.
The campaign highlights the work of a real volunteer, Alba, who is involved in the Red Cross’s Active Aging and Health Promotion project for seniors.
Alba, along with other project volunteers, selflessly carries out her duties in various villages in Asturias, requiring the mobility that comes with it.
TotalEnergies considered that the best way to support the work of the Red Cross was by acquiring an electric car and its charger, enabling volunteers to carry out their duties in a sustainable and net-zero emissions manner.
To illustrate the story, the campaign’s commercial was filmed in Porrúa, a village in eastern Asturias, charmingly depicting the everyday situations in which this volunteer engages, such as accompanying seniors or monitoring their health habits.
The company encourages its customers to donate their loyalty points to this initiative.
For every 1,000 points donated by the company’s customers, TotalEnergies will contribute an additional 2,000 points, until the financing for the car is complete.
Additionally, TotalEnergies provides a charging point for this vehicle as a gift.
In this way, customers and the energy company collaborate with the increasingly necessary work of these volunteers, facilitating their efforts in a more sustainable manner.
According to Javier Sáenz de Jubera, President of TotalEnergies Electricity and Gas, “this charitable and festive campaign is a great opportunity to shed light on the extraordinary work done by Red Cross volunteers in rural areas and, at the same time, promote sustainable mobility, crucial for preserving the natural heritage of these environments.”
He further commented: “We are proud to involve our customers in an initiative that contributes to the social development of the areas where we are present, such as the Principality of Asturias, the headquarters of our domestic market activity.”
“This action is also in line with our global drive towards electric mobility in Spain and the world, where we aim to install 150,000 charging points, and we believe that this campaign is a small contribution to bringing its benefits to new users in a very tangible and humane way.”
For José María Lana Alonso, President of Red Cross Asturias, “this collaboration with TotalEnergies allows us to be closer to the elderly, alleviating situations of unwanted loneliness and facilitating the actions of our volunteers by providing them with a vehicle for their voluntary work”.
“It also allows us to reduce our carbon footprint, which is a challenge for our organization. We are delighted to have the collaboration of TotalEnergies in Asturias,” she adds.
